Autogear Asset is a GPS tracker with its own battery and SIM card that gives you an overview of the location of your equipment — trailers, machines, containers and other items without a power connection. Here's how to get started, how to use it, where it can be used, and which models and settings are available.
Getting started
Depending on which model you've received, the mounting options vary:
- Compact — strips or magnet.
- Standard — built-in magnet (attaches itself to steel), included mounting plate or strips.
- Max — strips or screws.
Asset is activated on receipt. Once it's mounted, log in to Autogear Locator to see it on the map.
How to use Asset
Mount Asset on your equipment — for example a trailer, mini excavator or container — and see its latest position in the fleet map. You'll find all Assets under Fleet → Locator, with the latest logged position and history of where they've been, both in the Locator app and Locator on the web.
How often the device logs its position depends on the model and setting — from one ping every three days to eight pings per day. If you want more or fewer pings, contact support.
Use cases
Because the device has its own battery and SIM card, it can be mounted and placed almost anywhere — from containers and trailers to vehicles of any size. One of our customers, for example, has placed an Autogear Asset in every snowmobile stored around the Norwegian mountains. We recommend strips, screws or other mounting material that makes it easy to remove when replacing the device.
Models and settings
Asset comes in three models with a SIM card and built-in antenna that retrieves position via GSM.

Asset reports its position on the fleet map based on two factors: movement or no movement. The frequency is determined by the setting you choose:
- Compact: 1 position per day → up to 3 years' lifespan.
- Standard: Eco (1/day → 3 years) · Standard (8/day → 1.5 years) · Plus (actively tracked on movement → lifespan depends on use).
- Max: Eco (1/day → 10 years) · Standard (6/day → 7 years).
