Autogear Locator Troubleshooting

Updated Stefan Jacobsen

Can't see your vehicles in Autogear Locator, or is the vehicle shown in the wrong place? Go through the troubleshooting below — it usually solves the problem.

I don't see anything, or vehicles are missing from the map

If you can't see your vehicles or tracking devices when you log in, follow these steps to troubleshoot:

  1. Check whether you're assigned a license under Licenses.
  2. Vehicle visibility is determined by the driver's privacy settings. You can check this under Account – Users and Teams in the Privacy and Map visibility column. Read more about how to change map visibility here.

I haven't given the app permission to use Location Services and background refresh

The app needs access to location and GSM, 3G, 4G or 5G to work. If you didn't give the app access the first time you opened it, you can enable this as follows:

  • Android: Go to Settings – Apps – Locator. Grant access to location and background refresh.
  • iPhone: Go to Settings, scroll down until you find Locator and open it. Grant access to location and background refresh.

My vehicle shows up off the coast of Africa

If your vehicle appears in the ocean off the coast of Africa, it's likely sitting at Null Island (coordinates 0°N 0°E). This happens when the GPS device or Tag device hasn't received a valid position and sends 0 as latitude and longitude. The vehicle is then automatically shown at this point on the map.

Standard GPS device?

Make sure the device is connected to power, has a clear view of the sky and is mounted correctly. The position will normally update automatically once the signal is back.

Using a Tag?

If it's a Tag, this may be because it hasn't been activated. Hold the Tag against a magnet to activate the battery. If the problem persists, contact customer service.
