There are two types of GPS. Here are the instructions for installing the fixed-mounted device. If you have OBD, click here to go to the correct guide.
Fixed-mounted
This connects directly to the car's battery, and separate instructions for this are included in the package. In short, the plus (+) wire goes on the positive terminal and the minus (-) wire on the negative terminal.
Tips and important notes
For those using a GPS device that connects to the OBD port, an extension cable can be ordered free of charge. There can be two reasons why you'd need this:
- Poor coverage. In a few cases there will be too poor coverage for the GPS device. This can result in inaccurate trips. In that case, use the extension cable to place the device with a clear view out one of the windows.
- Impractical placement or wanting to hide the device. In some cars the device can be a nuisance because it sticks out in the driver's cabin. And some people would like to hide the device. In these cases, the extension cable gives good flexibility for placing the device.
