Autogear Locator: Getting started and use

Autogear Locator lets you see the position of vehicles, assets and tags right on your phone. This guide walks you through downloading and logging in, and how to use the map, list and account settings.

Log in

Use the same login as in the web app: email/password, or Apple, Google or Microsoft. To set up new users you need access to the user module in the web version — contact the admin on your Autogear account.

Log in as a guest (Autogear Tag)

This feature is only relevant for those using Autogear Tag (asset control). As a guest, your phone communicates with nearby tags and updates their position — so employees who bring along tools or use company equipment help ensure you always know where the equipment is. Especially useful when equipment is taken away from the vehicles, where the installed GPS is no longer within range.

1. Tap "Continue as guest".
2. Grant the app permission to use Bluetooth, location and to run in the background.
3. You can then close the app.

Map

Map gives you the location of equipment, tools and vehicles you have access to, right on the map.

1. Open Autogear Locator.
2. Move around the map, and zoom in or out as needed.
3. Click on the selected icons to see position, last position and last seen.
4. Get directions to the position, share the position, or view the log.

List

List gives you a quick overview of all vehicles, assets and tags you have access to, with details and last position. You can star favorites — for example tools you often carry in the car, or the vehicle you're responsible for.

1. Go to List.
2. Find the vehicle, tool or equipment you want.
3. Star it if you want it at the top of the list.
4. Click it to go straight to the location on the map.
5. From there you can get directions, share the position, or view the log.

Account and settings

Under Account you'll find account details, settings and options for privacy and security. Click the pencil icon next to your initials to edit account details, and change the language to Norwegian, Danish or English.

• Sync Autogear Tags — confirm that you've given the Locator app permission to sync position and ping nearby tags.
• Two-factor authentication — shows whether 2FA is enabled; change at next login.
• PIN code, Face ID or fingerprint — change your PIN or enable biometrics for faster login.
• Change password — when you change your password, 2FA is also turned off.
• Request account deletion — send us a request to delete your account.
• BLE list — see tags in the area that the Locator app will log the position of.
• Version number — see the installed version. We recommend automatic updates, or regularly checking that you have the latest version.
