Autogear Tag is a Bluetooth tag for tracking tools and light equipment. With the free Autogear Locator app, you always have immediate access to a map and information about where your assets are located, and you can activate various notifications.
Mounting and range
Attach the Tag securely to various types of assets by screwing it in place, using cable ties, or gluing it on. The small and rugged device withstands outdoor conditions all year round.
You can expect a Bluetooth signal that covers several dozen meters — up to around 80 meters with no obstructions. Recommend that drivers download Autogear Locator, so they help update where the company's items are located.
Activate notification service
With the notification service you get alerted if a Tag loses contact, or receive a daily status of where the tool is located — useful for quickly clarifying whether a tool has gone missing.
- Log in to Autogear.
- Go to Account → Notification service.
- Click + Add notification in the top right.
- Find Autogear Tag and select which notification you want: - More than 24 hours since contact - More than 7 days since contact - Receive a daily status
- Choose who should receive the notification, by role or user.
- Save.
Rename
You can rename a Tag both on the web and in the Autogear Locator app.
On the web:
- Go to Licenser.
- Click the Tag tab.
- Click the name in the first column to change it.
- Save.
In Autogear Locator:
- Open Autogear Locator and log in.
- Find the tag on the map and click it — or go to the list and click it there.
- Click the pen icon and enter the desired name.
- Save.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if a tool disappears or is stolen?
Autogear Tag has no built-in GPS or SIM card, and can't be tracked directly while in motion. The advantage is that if a Tag is stolen and another Autogear customer with GPS or the Locator app is within range, the position updates automatically (in the event log, Synced by shows as Unknown). If you activate the notification service, you'll quickly be alerted that a device hasn't been seen, and can take action.
What if a Tag isn't near the car?
Use the Locator app — for example on a large construction site where parking is far away.
How do employees get access to see equipment in Locator?
To see and track equipment with Tag, the employee must have a user in Autogear. Users with the role Account Owner, Admin, Manager and Editor have access to see equipment in Locator.
