Inventory: Dimensions

Updated Stefan Jacobsen

Dimensions are your company's own fields — for example department, cost center, project number or fuel type — that you can set on your units. Dimensions are created under Account, and put to use in Inventory on the individual unit.

The dimensions themselves are created under Account → Dimensions — not inside Inventory. In Inventory you set the values on each unit via the Dimensions tab on the detail card.

Step 1 – Create the dimension (under Account)

  1. Go to Account → Dimensions.
  2. Click + Add dimension.
  3. Give the dimension a name (e.g. "Department", "Cost center", "Fuel type").
  4. Choose a field type: text, number, date or list.
  5. Save.

The dimension is now available to put to use on your units in Inventory.

Step 2 – Put the dimension to use (in Inventory)

  1. Open a unit in Inventory.
  2. Go to the Dimensions tab on the detail card.
  3. Set the value for the unit (e.g. Department = "Oslo Nord").
  4. Save.

Examples of dimensions

Dimension name Field type Example
Department Text "Oslo Nord"
Cost center Number "4210"
Fuel type List "Diesel", "Electric", "Hybrid"
Site pass ID Text "AP-2024-0042"
Contract period Date "2027-12-31"
Dimensions apply per account and are configured by an administrator. Contact customer service if you need help setting up dimensions.
