Add-ons on trips: passenger, trailer and equipment

Updated Stefan Jacobsen

Add-ons give extra mileage allowance per kilometre when the trip involves more than ordinary driving, for example a passenger or a trailer. Add-ons are added to the individual trip and are included in the payroll basis.

Which add-ons are there?

Add-on When Rate
Passenger (Passasjer) You bring a colleague on an assignment for your employer 1 kr per km per passenger
Trailer (Tilhenger) You drive with a trailer 1 kr per km
Transport of equipment and materials (Frakt av utstyr og materiell) You transport equipment or materials in the car 1 kr per km

The rates follow the government rates (Norway). The add-ons are tax-free when they are paid according to these rates and the documentation requirements are met.

Add-ons can only be added to work trips. On a private trip, only the Commute (Arbeidsreise) add-on is available, see Commutes.

How to add add-ons in the browser

  1. Go to Trips.
  2. Find the trip in the list.
  3. Click the Add-on icon on the trip's row.
  4. Select the add-on and save.

Passenger has its own icon on the row. Click it, enter the passenger's name and save. The number on the icon shows how many add-ons or passengers the trip has.

Several trips at once

  1. Tick the trips in the list.
  2. Select Add add-ons or Remove add-ons.
  3. Check the changes and confirm.
Add-ons cannot be changed on confirmed or reported trips. Add the add-ons before you confirm the trip or create a mileage allowance claim.

How to add add-ons in Autogear Driver

  1. Open the trip in the app.
  2. Under Passengers, add the name of each passenger.
  3. Under Add-ons, select the add-ons that apply to the trip.

Add add-ons automatically with rules

An administrator can create rules that add add-ons automatically, for example a passenger on regular trips. Select Add passenger or Add other add-on when you create the rule. See Rules – overview.

Custom add-ons

If you need add-ons that the government rates (Norway) do not cover, an administrator can create custom add-ons under Setup › Triplog › Rates. An add-on can have a price per kilometre or a fixed price per trip. See Rates.

Do you use an integration with a payroll or accounting system? Check that custom add-ons are linked to a pay type in the integration. Add-ons without a link must be handled manually.

Where do I see the add-ons?

The add-ons are summed up in the Addon Cost column in the payroll report under Reports › Payroll. They are also included in mileage allowance claims. See The payroll report in Autogear.
